Lincicome on Solheim Cup hot seat

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Brittany Lincicome is getting in position to make the cut in a bid to hold onto her spot among the top 10 in the U.S. Solheim Cup standings.

Double points are up for grabs at the U.S. Women’s Open this week. The top 10 in points will earn automatic roster spots when the team is set on Aug. 2 at the conclusion of the Ricoh Women’s British Open. Lincicome is 10th among Americans in the standings just 22 points ahead of No. 11 Laura Diaz and 29 points ahead of No. 12 Stacy Prammanasudh. With Pat Hurst (No. 13), Juli Inkster (No. 14) and Michelle Wie (No. 16) outside the top 10 and tempting choices as captain’s picks, Lincicome may have to make the team on points.

Lincicome opened the first round with a 1-over-par 72 and was tied for 38th at 4-over Friday making her way toward the turn to the back nine in the second round. The low 60 and ties and anyone with 10 shots of the leader makes today’s cut.

Prammanasudh is also in strong position to make the cut while Diaz starts the day outside the cut line and needs to rally.

At No. 9 in points, Natalie Gulbis is vulnerable having not qualified to play this week. Wie can’t gain any ground because she also didn’t qualify.
