By virtue of his first PGA Tour win on Sunday at the Wyndham Championship, Webb Simpson moved up 22 places in the new Official World Golf Ranking to 33rd. Should he maintain it going into 2012, Simpson will have great position to get into virtually every tournament he wishes next season.

Simpson’s progress on the ladder this year has been impressive. He has moved into the top-35 in the ranking after beginning the year at 213.

With a strong Sunday finish, Wyndham runner-up George McNeill moved up from 204th to 122 this week. Third-place finisher Tommy Gainey cracked the top-100 thanks to Greensboro, getting into 84th position.

Oliver Fisher picked up his maiden win on Sunday, too. He did it in the Czech Republic, though, by taking the Czech Open over Mikael Lundberg. Though the event had a weaker field, the win catapulted Fisher to 238th from in the mid-500s to start the week.

The top of the ladder remains unchanged, though. None of the top 15 players in the OWGR – including world No. 1 Luke Donald – moved at all. Meanwhile, Tiger Woods continues his ranking drop due to poor play, or a lack of it. He moved down three spots to 36th this week while sitting out Greensboro.
