Marlins signed LHP Matthew Kent to a minor-league contract.
Kent spent the last seven seasons in the Red Sox’ minor-league system, posting a serviceable 3.73 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 57/15 K/BB ratio across 72 1/3 innings (27 appearances, three starts) between Double-A Portland and Triple-A Worcester. The 29-year-old righty will give the Marlins some additional pitching depth in the upper minors next season.
