Cubs signed RHP Hunter Harvey to a one-year, $6 million contract.
He can make an extra $1.5 million in bonuses, according to the New York Post’s Jon Heyman. When he wasn’t on the IL with shoulder and groin injuries, Harvey threw 10 2/3 scoreless innings for the Royals last season, though his velocity was down about two mph. He has a career 3.11 ERA in 185 innings since debuting with the Orioles in 2019. He’ll probably be helpful in a setup role when healthy.

Jeff Passan of ESPN reports that Hunter Harvey’s one-year contract with the Cubs is worth $6 million.
The deal has yet to be officially announced as the 31-year-old right-hander still needs to pass his physical. Harvey was limited to just 12 appearances during the 2025 campaign due to recurring adductor and shoulder issues. When healthy though, he has proven to be a weapon at the back end of any bullpen and he should find himself in a setup role in front of closer Daniel Palencia.

The Cubs are signing reliever Hunter Harvey, reports The Athletic’s Will Sammon and Sahadev Sharma.
Chicago continues fortifying its bullpen with Harvey becoming the latest experience high-leverage arm entering the stable. The 31-year-old is more of a lottery ticket after being limited to just 12 appearances due to adductor and shoulder issues this past season with the Royals. He holds a strong 3.11 ERA — 3.16 FIP — and 26.8 percent strikeout rate across 185 innings since 2019. He projects as an impact late-inning arm for the Cubs, with the only real question being whether his health allows him to play a significant role.

Royals placed RHP Hunter Harvey on the 15-day injured list with a right adductor strain.
It’s the second trip to the injured list this season for the 30-year-old right-hander who just returned on July 25 after missing over three months with a right major teres sprain. No word yet on how long he’ll be shelved for this time around. Luinder Avila was recalled from Triple-A Omaha to take his place in the Royals’ bullpen.

The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal reports that the Rangers, among other teams, are interested in Phil Maton.
Maton is the favorite to be the closer in St. Louis with Ryan Helsley now with the Mets. However, Maton is also a free agent at the end of this season, so it seems likely he will be traded today. The Rangers have expressed an interest in him, in addition to Hunter Harvey of the Royals and Jake Bird of the Rockies.

Royals activated RHP Hunter Harvey from the 60-day injured list.
Harvey is back after missing over three months with a right major teres sprain. The right-hander will be a high-leverage option who likely operates as a bridge to Carlos Estevez in the late innings now that he’s healthy enough to do so.

Hunter Harvey (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment tonight in the Arizona Complex League.
Harvey was placed on the IL on April 11th with a right major teres sprain. He then experienced a minor setback on May 7th that precipitated his move to the 60-day IL. Given how long he’s been sidelined, it will likely be a long rehab process for Harvey, who likely won’t return to the Royals bullpen until early August.

Royals moved RHP Hunter Harvey (shoulder) to 60-day injured list.
Harvey has been on the IL since April 11 with a right major teres sprain. He suffered a setback at the beginning of May and has not yet gotten closer to returning. The move to the 60-day IL shouldn’t change his timeline at all.

Hunter Harvey (shoulder) experienced renewed soreness while playing catch earlier this week.
Royals manager Matt Quatraro said Harvey’s throwing progression will be slowed down a bit before they determine his next steps. It’s not quite a full-scale shutdown, but they’re going to pump the brakes. There should be an update on his status once he throws a bullpen session in the coming days.

Hunter Harvey (shoulder) faced hitters on Monday in a live batting practice session.
It’s likely Harvey’s final step before heading out on a minor league rehab assignment. The 30-year-old high-leverage reliever has been out since mid-April recovering from a Grade 1 teres major sprain in his shoulder. It certainly seems like there’s a chance he’s back in Kansas City’s bullpen before the end of the month.
