Philadelphia has placed Cole Hamels on the disabled list with shoulder inflammation, but because the stint is backdated to August 13 he’ll be eligible to return Sunday.

For now at least Hamels remains the Phillies’ scheduled starter for Monday’s game against the Reds, so it looks like the DL move is mostly just so they can add Pete Orr as an extra bench player in the meantime.

Hamels had been scheduled to start Friday, so barring another setback the Phillies are basically just pushing back his next start by three days.
