Mets third baseman David Wright will begin a rehab assignment with Single-A St. Lucie on Monday, MLB.com’s Michael Kolligian reports. Wright has been out since April 15 due to spinal stenosis -- the narrowing of space in the spine. He left his April 14 game against the Phillies with a strained right hamstring.

Wright, 32, was hitting .333/.371/.424 with one home run and four RBI in eight games prior to the injury.

Kolligian notes that the Mets are aiming for Wright to take a total of 30 at-bats on his rehab assignment, which would cover 10 days barring setbacks. Manager Terry Collins hopes to be able to start Wright “four days in a row” when he returns.
