Veteran reliever Hong-Chih Kuo has failed to draw much free agent interest since being non-tendered by the Dodgers in mid-December. But that may start changing as spring training approaches.
According to Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe, three West Coast teams have been “kicking the tires” recently on the 30-year-old left-hander.
Kuo pitched only 27 innings last season and has undergone a total of five elbow procedures, but he still possesses nasty raw stuff and has held left-handed batters to a .205/.282/.318 batting line for his career. On a non-guaranteed minor league deal, he’d be a worthwhile risk for just about any team.
