Hunter Pence, who has remained on the Giants’ active roster without playing since June 3, has finally been placed on the disabled list with left wrist tendinitis.

Pence missed the first five weeks of the season with a forearm injury and ended up playing just 18 games between DL stints, hitting .282 with two homers and a .780 OPS.

He’d previously been one of the most durable players in baseball, appearing in all 162 games in each of the past two seasons and at least 154 games every year since 2008.

Justin Maxwell has been the primary fill-in for Pence in right field, with Gregor Blanco also seeing some action.
