Veteran catcher Omir Santos has agreed to a minor-league deal with the Indians that includes an invitation to spring training.
Santos got a bunch of playing time for the Mets as a 28-year-old rookie in 2009, but has spent most of the past three seasons in the minors while seeing a little action for the Tigers.
He’s likely destined for Triple-A again because the Indians have Carlos Santana as their starting catcher and Lou Marson as his clear-cut backup. Organizational depth, basically.
