Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports that in addition to being willing to trade catcher Brian McCann and outfielder Brett Gardner, the Yankees are also open to trading third baseman Chase Headley.

Headley, 32, has two years and $26 million remaining on his contract and is coming off of back-to-back below average offensive campaigns. He famously ended this past April with a .418 OPS and didn’t hit his first home run until May 12, but he was able to bounce back and have a solid season the rest of the way. Overall, he hit .253/.331/.385 with 14 home runs and 51 RBI in 529 plate appearances.

Headley (and the Yankees) also benefit from a weak free agent market. Justin Turner is far and away the best third baseman available and the quality drops off precipitously after that with the likes of Luis Valbuena, Andres Blanco, and Ruben Tejada. Teams, as a result, will be more inclined to deal for a third baseman.
