Bob mentioned Derryl Cousins’ redonkulously small strikezone earlier this morning. Now Jason at IIATMS has it in visual form. For those unfamiliar, the green dots were called balls. Note how much green is in the strikezone. I’m seeing at least 26 pitches that should have been called strikes. The Yankees and Red Sox are fairly good at drawing walks as it is. They didn’t need Cousins’ help. The fans watching certainly didn’t need it.
Based on how bad that zone was, it’s probably worth moderating our “release Smoltz” and “smack Joba in the head” talk at least a little bit this morning.
