Yasiel Puig’s minor-league rehab assignment was shut down due to a setback with his strained hamstring and Dodgers manager Don Mattingly admitted that the outfielder is “at least a couple weeks” from potentially coming off the disabled list.
Puig aggravated the hamstring injury while running to first base Monday at Single-A and Mark Saxon of ESPN Los Angeles reports that the Dodgers are now planning to take things very slow with his recovery to guard against more setbacks.
Andre Ethier has been killing the ball as Puig’s fill-in and the Dodgers are winning, so there’s no rush at the moment. Puig hit .279 with two homers and an .845 OPS in 11 games before the injury.
