Marlins purchased the contract of RHP Toby Borland from Triple-A Albuquerque.
It’s rather surprising that the Marlins chose Borland over Tommy Phelps, who was with the team earlier this year and had pitched better at Albuquerque. Borland, 33, had a 5.27 ERA in 15 relief appearances for Florida last year. It’s unlikely that he’ll be any better this time around.
