Joey Logano posted the fastest time in Xfinity Series qualifying at Watkins Glen International on Friday afternoon with a lap of 124.542 mph. It is the first pole of the season for Logano and the 31st of his career.

The Team Penske driver enters the Zippo 200 at The Glen as the defending race winner and will lead the field to the green flag alongside teammate Brad Keselowski, who posted a lap of 124.325 mph. David Starr in the No. 93 was the lone driver to fail to qualify.

“This is the 12 team, we don’t race very much,” Logano told NBCSN. “We kind of go through the shop and grab some guys and girls and put everyone together and put together a race car for the weekend to have some fun here at Watkins Glen. It’s a great pick-me-up on the Xfinity side for Team Penske. We’ve had a rough season so far, so it’s a nice little token to have nice front row starting spots for both Penske cars. Ready to make it happen and do it again like last year.”

The top five were Logano, Keselowski, Paul Menard (124.115 mph), Kyle Larson (123.953 mph), and Kyle Busch (123.878 mph).

Point leader Elliott Sadler (122.977 mph) will start 10th.
