Despite pulling out a convincing win over the Lakers, not everything about Christmas Day was positive for the Clippers. The team announced on Saturday that Blake Griffin will be out at least two weeks with a partially torn left quad tendon.
The two-week timeframe puts Griffin out of commission for at least the Clippers’ next seven games, which start tonight with a four-game road trip against the Jazz, Wizards, Hornets and Pelicans. He’ll also miss home games against the Blazers and a second matchup with the Hornets, as well as a road game in Philadelphia. It’s not the hardest schedule in the world, but the Clippers are in a position right now where they’re trying to separate themselves from the rest of the 4-10 logjam in the Western Conference playoff race, and not having their best player for two weeks will do them no favors.
The L.A. Clippers announced today that forward Blake Griffin suffered a partially torn left quad tendon during last night’s win over the Lakers. Griffin underwent an MRI this morning that revealed the injury.
The Clippers leading scorer did not accompany the team to Utah and will be re-evaluated in two weeks.
Griffin is averaging 23.2 points, 8.7 rebounds and 5.0 assists in 30 games (all starts) this season for the Clippers.
