Middle Tennessee junior WR Izaiah Gathings caught three passes for 49 yards and one touchdown as Middle Tennessee downed Connecticut 44-13 on Friday.
Gathings (6'4/225) found the end zone on a 25-yard catch and run after hauling in a short curl route before a missed tackle allowed him to turn up field for an easy score. This gave Middle Tennessee a 17-10 lead over the Huskies late in the second quarter, in a game the Blue Raiders never trailed in. It was the first touchdown of the season for Gathings, who entered the day with just seven receptions for 109 yards. He and Middle Tennessee play host to Southern Mississippi next week.
