The New Jersey Devils got off to a fast start as Dainius Zubrus beat Pittsburgh Penguins goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury on the first shot of the night:
Zubrus was a mere second shy of the Devils’ record for the quickest goal to open a contest, according to The Record’s Tom Gulitti.
The Pittsburgh Penguins weren’t demoralized though. They ended up heavily out shooting the Devils early in the first period and got the equalizer from Blake Comeau at 7:17:
