Bode Miller races for the first time this season on Thursday in the World Championships super-G in Beaver Creek, Colo., live on NBCSN and NBC Sports Live Extra.

Miller, 37 and a six-time Olympic medalist, returns from November back surgery in what will likely be his final World Championships.

Miller, winner of Olympic super-G medals in 2010 and 2014, will face a field that includes defending champion and countryman Ted Ligety.

Miller and Ligety are looking for their sixth career Worlds medals, which would match Lindsey Vonn‘s record for a U.S. skier. Vonn won super-G bronze Tuesday.

In Thursday’s race, the international favorites are Norway’s Kjetil Jansrud and Aksel Lund Svindal, the last two Olympic super-G champions.

The World Championships continue through next week. The next race is the women’s downhill scheduled for Friday, with Vonn as the favorite.
