NBC Sports Partners with North Shore Animal League America to Present the “NASCAR on NBC ‘Pup’ Series”
STAMFORD, Conn. – July 5, 2018 – NBC Sports Group surrounds the Fourth of July holiday, and the broadcast television debut of NASCAR on NBC’s newest on-air contributor Dale Earnhardt Jr., with a comprehensive consumer engagement campaign to promote Saturday’s Coke Zero Sugar 400 at 7 p.m. ET on NBC. The marketing initiative includes television segments, outdoor advertising, adoptable puppies and social media initiatives.
NBC SPORTS AND NORTH SHORE ANIMAL LEAGUE AMERICA LAUNCH THE “NASCAR ON NBC ‘PUP’ SERIES”
NBC Sports is partnering with North Shore Animal League America to raise awareness of the plight of animal homelessness and bring puppy power to a few of the cities hosting NASCAR Cup Series races. Dubbed the “NASCAR on NBC ‘Pup’ Series,” the animal adoption campaign kicks off this weekend in Orlando, in advance of NBC Sports’ coverage from Daytona International Speedway.
The traveling “NASCAR on NBC ‘Pup’ Series” will host six adoption events in six markets during NBC Sports’ portion of the season. In addition to a custom-built NASCAR Track, the adoptable puppies will sport bandanas with the names of NASCAR drivers including Paw-stin Dillon and Chase “Your Tail” Elliott. The overall effort is meant to drive awareness about the importance of rescue and adoption while finding all ‘Pup Series’ animals a loving home.

NBCUNIVERSAL COLLABORATION
As part of NBC Sports Group’s marketing and publicity efforts for the first broadcast race of the 2018 NASCAR on NBC season, NBC Sports collaborated with many of the signature properties of NBCUniversal on a series of entertainment segments.
Guests staying at Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood this week can request to receive a special wakeup call from two-time Daytona 500 winning driver Dale Earnhardt Jr., and find special NASCAR on NBC info in their hotel channel guide. Yesterday’s annual “Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks® Spectacular” broadcast on NBC included an appearance from Austin Dillon, driver of the No. 3 Richard Childress Racing Chevy. In addition, Friday morning’s edition of the TODAY Show will include a special tune-in announcement for Saturday’s Coke Zero Sugar 400.
On Saturday, Golf Channel’s Morning Drive will bring viewers inside the car as Denny Hamlin, driver of the No. 11 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota, takes Todd Lewis for a few laps around Daytona International Speedway. Throughout the week, NBC affiliate WESH will also provide coverage from the “World Center of Racing.”
NASCAR ON NBC PROMO PLANES WITH AERIAL ADVERTISING
NBC Sports takes to the skies, with aerial advertising banners flying high above Daytona Beach. The promotion, which will run on Friday and Saturday, will allow beachgoers who are away from their televisions to “Text NBC to 66866” to live stream NBC Sports’ NASCAR coverage.
#HEYRUT ALLOWS FANS AN OPPORTUNITY TO MEET RUTLEDGE WOOD IN DAYTONA
NASCAR on NBC kicks off #HeyRut, an interactive social campaign which allows fans at the track each race weekend the opportunity to highlight unique opportunities, and possibly get a visit from NASCAR on NBC features reporter Rutledge Wood. In Chicagoland #HeyRut led Wood to take a cool dip in a fan’s blow up pool.
Fans are encourage to share their at-track ideas this weekend in Daytona, and possibly see their camp set-up, display, or outfit featured in NBC Sports’ on-air coverage.
BEHIND THE SCENES AND AROUND THE CLOCK ACCESS SURROUNDING DAYTONA
NBC Sports will provide around the clock social media coverage from Daytona International Speedway this weekend. Featuring on-site photos, gifs, and highlights, the @NASCARonNBC handles on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram will provide a behind the scenes look at NBC Sports’ first NASCAR races of the 2018 season.
