STAMFORD, Conn. – January 3, 2017 – This week’s all-new edition of NFL Turning Point, debuting Thursday at 1:30 a.m. ET / Wednesday at 10:30 p.m. PT on NBCSN, takes an in-depth look at the Green Bay Packers’ NFC North clinching win over the Detroit Lions, and breaks down QB Aaron Rodgers’ four touchdown performance.
In addition, the show analyzes the New England Patriots’ victory over the Miami Dolphins; examines the Kansas City Chiefs’ AFC West clinching win against the San Diego Chargers; and shines a spotlight on the rookie season of Philadelphia Eagles QB Carson Wentz, including the Eagles’ matchup with the Cowboys this past Sunday.
Hosted by Football Night In America’s Dan Patrick, the 30-minute long NFL Turning Point, co-produced by NFL Films, airs weekly throughout the entire NFL season, including the playoffs and Super Bowl.
This week’s episode includes:
- Packers – Lions: NFL Films analyzes the battle between Rodgers and Lions QB Matthew Stafford, and examines Rodgers’ 27 completions on 39 pass attempts for 300 yards and four touchdowns.
- Patriots – Dolphins: NFL Turning Point studies the parallels of the Week 17 matchups between the two teams this season and last season, and analyzes the postseason home-field advantage implications that were once again on the line for the Patriots. In addition, the segment highlights the impact of WR Julian Edelman on Sunday, and how his 77-yard touchdown reception in the third quarter proved to be the “turning point” in the game.
- Chiefs – Chargers:The segment explores the Chiefs’ AFC East clinching win, reviews WR Tyreek Hill’s strong performance, and dissects his 95-yard punt return for a touchdown that broke the game open in the third quarter.
- Cowboys – Eagles: Featuring in-game audio from the Eagles’ matchup with the Cowboys, the segment examines how Wentz was able to connect with TE Zach Ertz for two touchdowns and lead Philadelphia to a 27-13 victory over Dallas.
Wednesday night’s Sounds of The Game – Powered by BOSE – segment will feature the Best of NFL Films Week 17 wires, including in-game audio from WR Odell Beckham Jr. in the Giants’ win over the Redskins.
Each week NFL Turning Point is built around select NFL matchups from the previous weekend, and focuses on the crucial “turning point” moments that ultimately defined the outcome of each game. The show also features anatomy-of-a-play type segments and long-form game-of-the-week style narratives that include pre-game and post-game access, sideline sounds, jaw-dropping cinematography and incredible storytelling that is synonymous with NFL Films.
During the 2016-17 season NBCSN will air a total of 21 NFL Turning Point episodes. The season finale, scheduled to air on Wednesday, February 8, 2017, will look back at the “turning point” of Super Bowl LI.
