NBC TO PRESENT 2013 SKATE CANADA INTERNATIONAL COVERAGE SUNDAY AT 4 P.M. ET

Analysts Johnny Weir and Tara Lipinski Join NBC Broadcast

Coverage Features Olympians and Top International Competitors

Stamford, Conn. – October 24, 2013 – NBC presents 2013 Skate Canada International coverage this Sunday at 4 p.m. ET featuring performances from the men’s and ladies’ free skate competition from Harbour Station in St. John, New Brunswick in Canada. Coverage is highlighted by NBC analysts, former Olympic figure skaters Johnny Weir and Tara Lipinski.

Highlighting the field for Team USA are three-time U.S. champion and Vancouver Olympian Jeremy Abbott, 2013 National silver medalist Ross Miner, 2013 U.S. silver medalist Gracie Gold and rising teen competitor Courtney Hicks. The men’s international competition includes reigning three-time World champion and six-time Canadian champion Patrick Chan, 2013 Japanese National champion Yuzuru Hanyu and 2010 Vancouver Olympian Nobunari Oda, also from Japan. The ladies’ international contest includes 2013 Canadian National champion Kaetlyn Osmond, 2010 Vancouver Olympian and 2012 World bronze medalist Akiko Suzuki of Japan.

COMMENTATORS: Terry Gannon will call the action alongside analysts Johnny Weir, a two-time Olympian and three-time U.S. champion, and Olympic gold medalist Tara Lipinski. Skate Canada is the second event of the 2013 International Skating Union (ISU) Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series. The Grand Prix Series, now in its 19th season, consists of six international events in a cumulative point-scoring format. Approximately 300 athletes from 30 countries are expected to participate in the series. The top six point-earners in each discipline qualify for the 2013 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final, set for Dec. 5-8, in Fukuoka, Japan.
