Second-year Eagles safety Sean Considine is angling for a starting position in 2007.
The fourth-round pick was a disappointment as a rookie, but he’s the only Eagles safety signed after this season. It’s a lot like when the Eagles had Lito Sheppard and Sheldon Brown in place to take over in their third-year at cornerback.

Defensive coordinator Jim Johnson said Thursday that Sean Considine will be the Eagles’ starting strong safety.
Not a big surprise after he replaced Michael Lewis as a starter last season, but Considine beat out Quentin Mikell. “I’ve got a lot of confidence in him,” Johnson said. “I think he’s an excellent safety. I think he’s a guy who can play in the box, and who can play deep half. He’s very smart, he’s one of our leaders, and I expect a good year out of him.”
