Considine

The fourth-round pick was a disappointment as a rookie, but he’s the only Eagles safety signed after this season. It’s a lot like when the Eagles had Lito Sheppard and Sheldon Brown in place to take over in their third-year at cornerback.

Considine, 29, can play both strong and free safety in a pinch, and contribute on special teams. He’s the Ravens’ replacement for Tom Zbikowski.

Considine missed the final two weeks of preseason with a concussion, but managed to beat out rookie Omar Brown for a spot on the 53-man roster. The Ravens are planning on using Considine in the Tom Zbikowski role this season as a key cog on special teams.

Considine was brought in due to his familiarity with DC Sean McDermott’s scheme, but he was limited to special teams duty through four weeks. He didn’t have a tackle in four games.

Arizona needs depth at the position with FS Kerry Rhodes out at least a month following foot surgery. If Considine does play, it will likely be on special teams.

Philadelphia replaced him on the roster with safety Jack Brewer.

The Iowa product has received a lot of positive press in his first off-season. For now, he’ll mostly be a force on special teams.

Not a big surprise after he replaced Michael Lewis as a starter last season, but Considine beat out Quentin Mikell. “I’ve got a lot of confidence in him,” Johnson said. “I think he’s an excellent safety. I think he’s a guy who can play in the box, and who can play deep half. He’s very smart, he’s one of our leaders, and I expect a good year out of him.”
