Three-star center becomes Georgia’s third 2015 signee

With Marcus Thornton and Nemanja Djurisic both being seniors, Georgia head coach Mark Fox and his staff have some personnel additions to make in their front court when it comes to the 2015-16 season. On the final day of the early signing period Georgia did just that, with 6-foot-8 center Derek Ogbeide signing his National Letter of Intent to join the SEC program next year.

Ogbeide, who attends Pebblebrook HS in Mableton, Georgia, will remain in state for college and becomes the third signee of this period for the Bulldog program. Ogbeide joins guard Will Jackson and forward E’Torrion Wilridge in Georgia’s 2015 recruiting class to date.

Justin Young of tweeted the following about Ogbeide following his commitment to Georgia:

The addition of Ogbeide helps Georgia in the front court, with current freshmen Yante Maten and Osahen Iduwe will be sophomores in 2015-16. And it should also be noted that in Georgia’s release announcing the signing of Jackson and Wilridge, it is believed that Wilridge can be a factor at both forward spots.

And with both Cameron Forte (junior) and Kenny-Paul Geno (sophomore) having eligibility remaining beyond this season, Wilridge may see more time at the four than at the three as a freshman.
