Unfortunately for both the player and the team, Antone Exum will end Virginia Tech’s regular season the same way he started 2013 -- on the sidelines.
On the Hokies’ injury report released Thursday, the cornerback has been ruled out of the rivalry game with Virginia. Exum suffered an ankle injury against Miami Nov. 9 and has missed the Nov. 16 game against Maryland.
Exum tore an ACL playing in a pickup game of basketball this past January and missed the first seven games of the season. He played in three games before injuring his ankle.
A second-team All-ACC corner in 2012, Exum is one of the Hokies’ two most experienced defensive backs to battle injuries throughout most of the 2013 season. Kyle Fuller, it was announced a week ago, will miss 4-6 weeks after undergoing surgery for a “core muscle injury.”
