Beavers’ 2nd-leading receiver remains hospitalized in fair condition

The availability of one of Oregon State’s most productive playmakers for this Saturday’s game is up in the air because of a health scare.

OSU officials confirmed via Twitter Monday that Seth Collins had been hospitalized and was being treated for an unspecified illness. Collins was transported to a local hospital sometime after the team’s flight returned to Oregon from the UCLA game Saturday.

Citing privacy concerns, head coach Gary Andersen talked around the wide receiver’s issues later on Monday.

“We’re going to support Seth and we’re going to be there for him any way we possibly can,” the coach said. “My thoughts and prayers are with him just like the team. That’s really all I can say.”

There has been no update from the school on Collins’ status since, although reports from the area indicate the receiver remained hospitalized in fair condition as of Tuesday morning.

Collins is currently second on the Beavers with 36 receptions and 418 receiving yards. In the loss to the Bruins, he caught two passes for 44 yards.

Back in January, Collins abruptly announced his departure from the OSU football program. The decision seemingly centered around the coaching staff’s decision to move the then-quarterback to receiver. Three months later, Collins had a change of heart and returned to the Beavers.
