Monday Miami learned that it had lost starting linebacker Ramon Buchanan to a season-ending ACL tear. Three days later, the same season-ending fate has befallen yet another defensive starter.
The school announced Thursday morning that starting defensive tackle Marcus Forston suffered a knee injury during practice Wednesday and, as a result, will miss the remainder of the 2011 season. The specific nature of the injury was not divulged, although the school did allow that it was a non-contact injury to the lineman’s knee.
Forston, who still has one year of eligibility remaining and will be a senior in 2012, missed the first game of the season due to the Nevin Shapiro imbroglio but has started the past three games. He also started 12 of the 13 games last season.
Forston will likely be replaced in the starting lineup by junior Adewale Ojomo, who has started two games this season.
