FSU LB Matthew Thomas returns from indefinite suspension, expected to play vs. Notre Dame

Indefinite suspensions mean different things. In the case of Florida State freshman linebacker Matthew Thomas, indefinite meant six games.

The former five-star recruit was suspended on Sept. 5 after being charged with the always-ominous “violation of team rules.” On Sunday, he was reinstated to the team and cleared to play Saturday night versus No. 5 Notre Dame, according to Warchant.com.

A Miami native, Thomas played in the first four games of Florida State’s national championship campaign, collecting four tackles with two tackles for loss, and then missed the final nine games with a shoulder injury. Expected to compete for a starting job in 2014, Thomas missed the ‘Noles’ season-opening win over Oklahoma State with an ankle injury, and was suspended from there.

Thomas’ return is expected to boost a Florida State pass rush that ranks 106th nationally with eight sacks on the season.
