After three quarters of play, Alabama running back Mark Ingram -- the presumed front runner in the race for the 2009 Heisman -- has exactly 31 reasons why he may have fallen back to the pack of stiff-armed trophy candidates.
Not only is his unbeaten and No. 2 team in the nation trailing 21-20 to Auburn, but Ingram has been held to a scant 31 yards on 15 carries by the Tigers defense.
Given Colt McCoy‘s huge performance on a national stage last night, Ingram may have to make a serious rally in the fourth quarter to stay at the top of the Heisman heap.
And to keep his Tide team square in the middle of the hunt for the BcS crystal.
