Lalich kicked off Oregon State team

In a move that should surprise no one that pays attention to Pac-10 football, quarterback Peter Lalich has been kicked off the Oregon State football team.

Beavers coach Mike Riley announced the decision Thursday.

Originally recruited to the University of Virginia, Lalich has been an off-the-field problem waiting to happen since an extraordinarily decorated high school career. A former Elite 11 prospect, Lalich was kicked out of UVA after numerous alcohol-related incidents.

Lalich transferred to Corvallis, where Riley has a longstanding track record of milking talent out of quarterbacks (Derek Anderson, Matt Moore, Sean Canfield, to name a few).

In May, however, Lalich was arrested for a boating DUI. He still has a court date pending in June.

Assuming Lalich wants to continue to play football collegiately, his best bet is probably at the sub-FBS level. It’s not talent the ideally built 6-foot-4, 226-pound passer is lacking.
