More offensive line attrition for Penn State

Preseason attrition isn’t anything new, but Penn State will see an already thin offensive line get just a little bit thinner with the now reported loss of backup guard Alex Mateas.

According to the Philadelphia Examiner by way of Fight On State, Mateas transferred out of the program last week. Mateas was expected to be the backup offensive guard this season. News of his departure comes just five days after it was announced that fellow lineman Tom Ricketts would be transferring from the Nittany Lions to Pitt.

And since bad news seems to come in threes, quarterback Kevin Newsome announced a day later that he would be transferring from PSU after falling behind in the quarterback battle of Matt McGloin and Rob Bolden.
