Report: Bo Pelini to be named head coach at Youngstown State

Despite the initial denials and pronouncement of “a complete fabrication,” it appears, at least for Bo Pelini, you can go home again.

Citing multiple sources familiar with the situation, the Youngstown Vindicator is reporting that Pelini will be the next head football coach at FCS-level Youngstown State. An official announcement could come as early as today, the Vindicator reports.

This development comes exactly one week after Pelini was first connected to the Penguins’ opening. Pelini, born and raised in Youngstown, played his college football at Ohio State; OSU’s former head coach, Jim Tressel, is now YSU’s president.

Pelini was fired late last month after seven seasons as Nebraska’s head coach. He was 67-27 during his time with the Cornhuskers.

The Penguins have finished above .500 every year since going 3-8 in 2010, going 7-5 in 2014. Despite that success, head coach Eric Wolford was given the boot the last week of November.
