SMU adds Iowa State transfer Terry Ayeni

Two months after leaving Ames, Terry Ayeni has settled into his new home in Texas.

Multiple media outlets are reporting that SMU added Ayeni to its roster over the weekend. According to one report, the defensive lineman practiced with his new Mustang teammates Monday.

It’s believed that Ayeni will be eligible to play immediately in 2016 as a graduate transfer.

In June of this year, Ayeni was one of two players to transfer out of the Iowa State football program. At the time, it was reported that he left the team because of health concerns and would be foregoing his senior season.

Ayeni, a junior college transfer, didn’t play his first season at ISU in 2014 because of a knee injury. He didn’t see the field in 2015 because of a lingering issue.

In fact, the most noteworthy event during his time with the Cyclones came off the field as he was arrested for disorderly conduct in April of 2015.
