Tight end Anthony McCoy, Southern Cal’s third-leading receiver, could be sidelined for the Trojans’ Emerald Bowl game against Boston College.
According to the Los Angeles Daily News, McCoy may be declared academically ineligible for the game. Head coach Pete Carroll said there’s a chance the situation could clear itself up one way or the other at some point today.
“We’re waiting to hear,” Carroll said. “Hopefully we will know something (today).”
McCoy has 22 receptions this season, and his 457 yards are second on the team behind Damien Williams.
In addition to McCoy, defensive tackle Averell Spicer could also miss the bowl game due to academic issues.
