Ever since Texas ripped the noose off the Big 12’s neck and from the hangman’s clutches, it’s been presumed that an invite from the Pac-10 to Utah would happen in short order.
According to at least one report, the Utes’ invite is in the mail and ready for delivery.
Per CSNBayArea.com, in an “exclusive” (chuckle), the Pac-10 will extend an invitation on Wednesday to Utah to become the conference’s 12th member. The site reports that a press conference is expected for tomorrow to officially announce the move.
However, Lya Wodraska of the Salt Lake Tribune reports that Mountain West officials have received no word of Utah’s imminent departure and a Utes official said there is “nothing new to report.”
Again, though, Utah to the Pac-10 remains a sooner-rather-than-later proposition, even with the -- reportedly -- premature speculation.
