  • NYM Starting Pitcher #23
Mets’ skipper Carlos Mendoza told reporters on Friday that David Peterson (hip) is about a week away from beginning his minor league rehab assignment.
The 28-year-old southpaw is working his way back from surgery to repair a torn labrum in his left hip. He’s probably going to need at least three rehab starts — maybe more — before he’s ready to join the Mets’ rotation. It looks like he’s on track for a return at some point in mid-May.
  • BAL Third Baseman #86
Orioles 3B prospect Coby Mayo went 2-for-6 with a homer and five RBI on Thursday for Triple-A Norfolk.
There isn’t much left for Mayo to prove in the upper minors at this point. The 22-year-old top prospect homered for the fourth consecutive contest, and now leads the International League with 11 round-trippers to go along with an astronomical .333/.397/.683 triple-slash line through 30 contests. We’re quickly running out of superlatives and it feels like a matter of days, not weeks, before Baltimore is forced to summon him to the majors.
  • HOU Second Baseman #27
Jose Altuve went 3-for-5 with an RBI and also stole a base on Thursday, leading the Astros to an 8-2 victory over the Guardians.
Altuve’s latest three-hit performance, which also included a seventh-inning RBI single, boosted his batting average to a stratospheric .352 (45-for-128) mark through 31 games. The 33-year-old veteran also picked up his 299th career stolen base in this one. He’s managed to stay healthy and has been one of the most impactful contributors in the entire fantasy landscape this season. Unreal.
  • HOU First Baseman #28
Jon Singleton went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer and three RBI on Thursday in the Astros’ win over the Guardians.
Singleton took Guardians lefty starter Logan Allen deep into the sixth inning with a go-ahead blast, his second round-tripper of the season. The 32-year-old journeyman also added an RBI sacrifice fly in the ensuing frame to cap off an eight-run offensive night for Houston’s lineup. He’s taken over as the Astros’ primary first baseman with José Abreu jettisoned to the minors and figures to at least continue hitting for some over-the-fence pop if he’s going to play everyday.
  • HOU Starting Pitcher #41
Spencer Arrighetti allowed two runs over 5 2/3 innings on Thursday in a no-decision against the Guardians.
It’s the deepest Arrighetti has worked into a contest since being called up last month from Triple-A Sugar Land. The 24-year-old top pitching prospect struck out six batters, and also handed out three free passes, throwing a career-high 94 pitches (62 strikes) in this one. He’s made some definite strides over his last two outings on the heels of a rocky debut back on April 10. He’s slated to take the ball on Wednesday in a tough road matchup against the Yankees.
  • CLE Starting Pitcher #41
Logan Allen was charged with three runs (two earned) over 5 2/3 innings on Thursday in a loss to the Astros.
Allen was tagged for seven hits, including a go-ahead two-run shot by Jon Singleton before departing in the sixth inning. He notched five strikeouts and only issued one walk. He mustered only 10 swinging strikes and finished with a lackluster 21 percent CSW. He’ll bring an inflated 5.11 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 31/12 K/BB ratio across 37 innings (seven starts) into a home outing on Tuesday against the division-rival Tigers.
  • TB Third Baseman #13
Junior Caminero was held out of the lineup on Thursday for Triple-A Durham.
Caminero hasn’t been called up. According to multiple reports it’s merely a planned off day after he played in both games of Wednesday’s doubleheader. He’s been on an absolute tear with a pair of multi-homer performances in his last three contests. The 20-year-old top prospect appears to be on the precipice of returning to Tampa Bay’s lineup, likely for good, as he’s batting .333 (18-for-54) with six homers and one steal through 14 contests for Triple-A Durham. He should be rostered in all fantasy formats already.
  • BAL Catcher
Orioles C prospect Samuel Basallo was removed from Thursday’s game for Double-A Bowie for precautionary reasons after being hit by a pitch.
It didn’t look great when Basallo, who has homered three times in his last two games entering this contest, was drilled on the right arm by a pitch. However, it sounds like he’s checked out just fine. The 19-year-old top prospect dealt with an offseason stress fracture in his right elbow, so it’s at least a situation worth monitoring.
  • STL Starting Pitcher #61
Cardinals RHP prospect Sem Robberse struck out six and allowed one run over six innings on Thursday for Triple-A Memphis.
Robberse boasts a sublime 1.77 ERA and 35/7 K/BB ratio across 35 2/3 innings (six starts) for Triple-A Memphis and appears to be in line to fill the vacant spot in St. Louis’ starting rotation on Tuesday against the Mets. The unheralded 22-year-old righty doesn’t throw hard, but he’s certainly done enough to at least earn a spot start for the Cardinals with Steven Matz (back) likely to end up on the injured list.
  • BOS Starting Pitcher #37
Nick Pivetta (elbow) struck out five and gave up four runs over three innings on Thursday in a minor league rehab start for Triple-A Worcester.
As expected, Pivetta threw 62 pitches (36 strikes) in his rehab outing and figures to be ready to take the ball next week against the Braves, most likely on Tuesday, down at Truist Park. The 31-year-old righty has been out since early April recovering from a flexor strain in his right elbow.
  • CHC Starting Pitcher #28
Kyle Hendricks (back) struck out seven and allowed two runs over five innings on Thursday in a minor league rehab start for Double-A Tennessee.
Hendricks threw 70 pitches (52 strikes) in this one and might be ready to rejoin Chicago’s starting rotation next week without another rehab outing. The 34-year-old righty landed on the injured list in late April with a relatively minor lower back issue.
