  • TEX Starting Pitcher #22
Rangers placed RHP Jon Gray on the 15-day injured list with a right groin strain.
Jon was removed from Tuesday’s start after 75 pitches with a groin injury. The team has referred to the injury as a “mild strain” and doesn’t expect him to miss more than 15 days; however, they said the same thing about Nathan Eovaldi and he’s now approaching three weeks on the shelf. It might be safe to assume fantasy managers will be without Gray for three to four weeks, but he’s been pitching well enough to hold on your IL if you have spots.
  • ARI Center Fielder #7
Corbin Carroll hit two doubles while scoring twice in a loss to the White Sox on Saturday.
Carroll was one of the few hitters who had any success against Erick Fedde and the White Sox bullpen, and he scored the only two runs in the contest for the D-Backs. It’s nice to see some extra-base hits from the 23-year-old, as he had picked up just three of them this month prior to Saturday.
  • CWS First Baseman #25
Andrew Vaughn went 2-for-5 with a homer and three RBI Saturday in a win over the Diamondbacks.
It’s been a fantastic June for Vaughn, even with the White Sox playing at an absolutely abhorrent level. The 26-year-old hit a two-run blast off Bryce Jarvis in the fifth, and the first baseman drove in another run with a single two innings earlier. Vaughn ended May with a .577 OPS, and the current slash of .227/.283/.386 helps tell the story of how good he’s been since.
  • CWS Shortstop #50
Lenyn Sosa went 3-for-5 with a three-run homer to help the White Sox to a 9-2 victory over the Diamondbacks on Saturday.
Sosa nearly doubled the lead for the White Sox with a three-run homer to make it 7-2 in the seventh. The 24-year-old also doubled and singled. There have been some flashes for Sosa thus far in 2024 — albeit inconsistent ones — and the three-hit game improves his slash to .250/.291/.392. He remains much more a long-term option than a quality one for the remainder of this campaign.
  • ARI Relief Pitcher #30
Scott McGough allowed a run over 2 1/3 innings in a start against the White Sox on Saturday.
McGough was essentially an opener for a bullpen day, but he ended up going deeper than the arms behind him. The right-hander struck out two while issuing one walk. There’s a good chance McGough works in a similar capacity next week against the Phillies, but there’ll be no reason for fantasy consideration.
  • CWS Starting Pitcher #20
Erick Fedde went six innings while allowing two runs to get a win over the Diamondbacks on Saturday.
Fedde did allow eight hits, but he didn’t put anyone on via walk while striking out six. The right-hander gave up runs in the first and fifth inning and he was able to avoid the big inning for another strong outing for the 31-year-old. The White Sox have been a disaster, but Fedde has been an absolute bright spot with a 3.09 ERA through 87 1/3 innings. He’s scheduled to take on the Tigers on Friday.
  • LAD Starting Pitcher #18
Yoshinobu Yamamoto admitted after Saturday’s start that he felt tightness in his triceps earlier in the week as well.
Yamamoto also admitted that was the real reason why his start was pushed back from Thursday to Saturday. Interesting. He’ll presumably head for further evaluation to determine the severity of the injury, but don’t be surprised if it results in a trip to the injured list — as the Dodgers aren’t going to take any chances here. Be sure to watch his status closely over the next couple of days.
  • PIT Second Baseman #39
Nick Gonzales homered and drove home two runs in a loss to the Rockies on Saturday.
Gonzales tied the game at 1-1 with a solo homer off Ty Blach in the fourth frame. The former top prospect has been able to pick up five homers in his 117 at-bats, and that roundtripper along with an RBI on a fielder’s choice give him 25 on the year.
  • COL Center Fielder #11
Jake Cave went 3-for-5 with a triple and three RBI in a blowout win for the Rockies on Saturday over the Pirates.
Cave doubled in two in the fourth off Jared Jones, and singled in another run in the seventh. The triple was the third of the season for the speedy 31-year-old outfielder.
  • COL First Baseman #4
Michael Toglia hit a grand slam in a blowout victory for the Rockies over the Pirates on Saturday.
Toglia turned a comfortable lead of 11-4 into a certified blowout with his grand slam off Dennis Santana. It’s the second time he’s cleared the bases and made it home on the same play in 2024, but the other one was a Little League slam against the Cardinals. Toglia has been awful thus far in his MLB career, and isn’t likely to have too many efforts like this even playing his home games in Colorado.
  • COL Left Fielder #15
Hunter Goodman homered twice, picked up four hits and drove in five runs in a 16-4 shellacking of the Pirates on Saturday.
Goodman also scored three runs in a monster game for the 24-year-old. There haven’t been many for the infielder/backstop, but he showed off his impressive raw power with a pair of homers to center; one a solo shot and the other a two-run blast. Even with the big effort Goodman is only hitting .203/.247/.449, but that pop and his friendly home confines certainly make him a name to keep an eye on.
