Three days after Tiger Woods testified under oath in a Miami courtroom, a six-person jury found his company, ETW, liable for deceptive and unfair trade practices as part of a civil suit.
According to a Miami Herald report, the all-female jury sided with the plaintiff, Bruce Matthews, who claimed that Woods’ company breached a 2001 licensing agreement with his company, Gotta Have It Golf, Inc., by not providing a specified number of autographs.
The jury awarded $668,000 in damages, though after interest is calculated the total judgment will reportedly be closer to $1.3 million. According to the report, Woods’ company is expected to appeal the decision.
Hours after finishing a final-round 78 amid back pain at Trump National Doral, Woods took the stand under subpoena Monday in Miami-Dade County for more than 45 minutes. After taking this week off, Woods is expected to return to action next week at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
