AUGUSTA, Ga. – Twenty years after sweet-swinging Fred Couples won the Masters, his first and only major championship, he’s found magic among the Georgia pines again and is leader of the Masters through two rounds.

Couples, 52, recorded seven birdies and two bogeys to shoot 5-under 67 Friday and leads with Jason Dufner at 5 under par.

‘Very shocking, but it was a great day,’ Couples said. ‘This is my favorite golf tournament in the world. For me to be a part of it is truly amazing. If feel like I’m very young when I get here.’

After a slow start Couples began to catch fire when he made three consecutive birdies on Nos. 7-9 to turn in 33. He made another little run on the back nine with birdies on 15 and 16, both of which came with fist pumps, sending the Masters patrons into a frenzy.
