The Giants have signed QB Jacob Eason to their practice squad.
Signing Eason indicates a move for Daniel Jones to go on injured reserve after suffering an ACL injury in Week 9. Eason has bounced around teams since entering the league in 2020, and is now behind Tommy DeVito and Matt Barkley for the Giants. The Giants also added RB Hassan Hall to their practice squad.
  • FA Quarterback #7
    Panthers released QB Jacob Eason.
Eason has thrown five NFL passes in each of the last two seasons, and has been picked off twice. The Panthers released him in November, and he briefly was on the 49ers practice squad. Still only 25, Eason is essentially a depth journeyman at this point.

  • FA Quarterback #7
Jacob Eason completed 3-of-5 passes for 59 yards and an interception in the Panthers’ 24-10, Week 6 loss to the Rams.
Forced into the game for the Panthers’ final series after fill-in starter P.J. Walker suffered a neck injury, Eason generated one fewer passing yard than Walker. He also tossed a game-sealing interception in the end zone, one the Rams corralled following a tip drill. The vast majority of Eason’s “production” came on a Christian McCaffrey catch-and-run. Eason could be thrown into the fire for Week 7 vs. the Bucs with Walker and Baker Mayfield (ankle) both highly questionable. Sam Darnold (ankle) still isn’t ready, though he could be cleared to practice this week.

  • FA Wide Receiver #82
    Seahawks waived WR JJ Arcega-Whiteside.
Other notable cuts from the Seahawks include quarterback Jacob Eason and wide receiver Bo Melton. Arcega-Whiteside converted to tight end while with the Eagles in an attempt to carve out a role in Philly. When that failed, the Eagles traded him to the Seahawks. Seattle announced him as a receiver when the trade became official. The move was always a long-shot, but Arcega-Whiteside had no future with the Eagles. His second-round draft capital could earn him a shot on someone else’s roster. If not, Arcega-Whiteside will land on a practice squad to start the year.

  • FA Quarterback #7
Seahawks declared QB Jacob Eason and OL Dakoda Shepley inactive for Week 15 against the Seahawks.
The Seahawks will have 48 active players for Tuesday’s game since the seven players on the team’s COVID list were not cleared in time; Tyler Lockett and Alex Collins are among that group.

  • FA Quarterback #7
Seahawks declared QB Jacob Eason, CB D.J. Reed, C Dakoda Shepley, OT Jamarco Jones, DT Robert Nkemdiche, and DE L.J. Collier inactive for Week 11 against the Cardinals.
Jamal Adams (groin) is active after being listed questionable.

  • FA Quarterback #7
Seahawks claimed QB Jacob Eason off waivers from the Colts.
With Russell Wilson currently on injured reserve due to a finger injury and Geno Smith the only other quarterback on their active roster, Seattle was forced to call up Jake Luton from the practice squad for their Week 6 matchup with the Steelers. Luton can only be elevated one more time. He would count against the 53-man roster if brought up a third time. Eason figures to be the temporary backup to Smith until Wilson returns. Eason was waived by the Colts after being beaten out by Brett Hundley for the backup gig in Indianapolis. Eason is a mistake-prone statue in the pocket and has one interception on five passes this year. Seahawks fans should hope that Smith can stay healthy until their star passer is back in the lineup.

  • FA Quarterback #7
    Colts waived QB Jacob Eason.
The writing was on the wall after the Colts healthy-scratched Eason on Sunday for Brett Hundley. Tossing an interception on five attempts in his only interim work for Carson Wentz this year, Eason will likely clear waivers and land back on Indianapolis’ practice squad. Hundley will remain active on game days behind Wentz.

  • FA Quarterback #7
Colts declared QB Jacob Eason, DE Kwity Paye, OT Braden Smith, S Khari Willis, DE Antwaun Woods and CB Rock Ya-Sin inactive for Week 4 against the Dolphins.
Wentz told reporters that he was feeling better this week after suffering a pair of ankle injuries at the start of the year. The Colts rolling with just one backup, Brett Hundley, confirms that Wentz is close to fully healthy. Hundley, who was brought up from the practice squad earlier this week, has clearly edged out Eason for the backup gig in Indianaoplis.

  • BAL Quarterback #15
Colts elevated QB Brett Hundley to their active roster Saturday.
Carson Wentz will be a game time decision on Sunday, and has a good chance to start. At the very least, Hundley provides the Colts with in-game insurance if Wentz can’t finish the game. If Wentz can’t play, it’s possible that Hundley gets the start, which would be his first since 2017. The Colts also elevated WR DeMichael Harris.
