If Perry can play for Frisco today, he could be activated early this week.

Perry is awaiting the results of an MRI on his knee, and took an inflammation-reducing injection in his shoulder.

Perry is dealing with the oblique while trying to come back from knee and shoulder injuries. If he shows during his rehab assignment that he is healthy, he expects the Rangers will activate him and ''see how I do up here.’' If that doesn’t go well, he might be forced to consider surgery on the shoulder and knee.

Perry was still able to make his second start at third base yesterday. Assuming that he remains able to make routine throws, he’ll continue to get playing time there against left-handers.

The plan is for Perry to undergo two weeks of intensive rehabilitation and therapy. If the shoulder doesn’t respond, he’ll likely undergo surgery to repair the damage.

Manager Buck Showalter said Perry could be activated as soon as this weekend.

The brace allows Perry, who also has a sore left shoulder, to take pressure off his knee and continue throwing drills. It remains uncertain when Perry will be ready to get into a game.

It’s still a mystery when Perry will be able to get into a game. His absence gives a big boost to Mark Teixeira’s chances of breaking camp with the Rangers.

Perry has been slowed for two weeks by a bone bruise in his left knee and soreness in his right shoulder. He’s likely to be ready for the start of the season, but he may not be able to play regularly.

It’s not like Perry’s a great choice, just 3-for-19 career off Washburn. Manager Buck Showalter hasn’t decided whether he’ll replace Hank Blalock or Brad Fullmer.
