Cubs shortstop Addison Russell was pulled from Game 3 in the fourth inning after injuring his left hamstring running out a triple.
Javier Baez came off the bench to pinch-run for Russell and then remained in the game at shortstop, with longtime shortstop Starlin Castro staying at second base.
Russell has been fantastic defensively for the Cubs all season at both second base and shortstop, and has shown flashes of being an impact offensive player as well by hitting .242 with 13 homers, 29 doubles, and a .696 OPS in 142 games as a 21-year-old rookie.
