The Brewers have scratched Jimmy Nelson from Tuesday’s start, MLB.com’s Adam McCalvy reports. It’s no surprise, as Nelson was hit in the head by a line drive on Thursday. Fortunately, the right-hander is in good condition.
As a result of having no obvious candidate to take Nelson’s place, the Brewers will cover Tuesday’s start with the bullpen.
Nelson, 26, has a 4.11 ERA and a 148/65 K/BB ratio over 177 1/3 innings in his first full season as a member of the Brewers’ starting rotation. The Brewers took him in the second round of the 2010 draft.
