Per MASN’s Chris Johnson, Nationals infielder Danny Espinosa is giving up switch hitting. He’ll be hitting from the right side full-time. The organization had been trying to get him to give up switch hitting for several years.
Espinosa, 27, has significantly better results batting right-handed, mostly against left-handed pitching. His career .804 OPS against southpaws significantly outpaces his .645 mark against right-handers.
With Yunel Escobar now in the mix at second base following a January trade with the Athletics, Espinosa has been relegated to a bench role.
