The Giants announced on Monday evening the activation of pitcher Matt Cain from the 15-day disabled list. The club optioned pitcher Chris Stratton to Triple-A Sacramento. Cain gets the start on Monday night against the Brewers, opposing Chase Anderson.

Cain had been on the disabled list since late May due to a strained right hamstring suffered while throwing a pitch. Prior to the injury, he had compiled a 5.20 ERA with a 38/13 K/BB ratio in 53 2/3 innings.

Stratton made three relief appearances, allowing one run on two hits and a walk with four strikeouts.
