Miguel Cabrera sat out Sunday’s game due to a nagging injury to his right ankle, but he returned to the lineup with a bang today.
Serving as the designated hitter, Cabrera went 4-for-5 with two home runs, three RBI, and four runs scored in a 12-1 blowout win over the Indians. He connected for a two-run homer in the first inning against Corey Kluber, who turned in a rare clunker by allowing five runs over just 2 2/3 innings. Cabrera later added a solo blast off Bryan Price in the eighth.
Cabrera hit just one home run over 29 games in August, but he has already doubled that output with his first game in September. His ankle situation will have to be managed down the stretch, but it’s a good sign for the Tigers.
