In the latest update on American League All-Star voting, provided last Monday, Tigers first baseman trailed Royals first baseman Eric Hosmer by nearly 600,000 votes. The Royals’ dominance in balloting has spurred a debate and prompted many ideas for potential changes, but no matter what, if Cabrera doesn’t close the gap, he won’t be in the AL’s starting lineup in the All-Star Game for the first time since 2012.
Cabrera isn’t worried about it. As Matthew B. Mowery of The Oakland Press reported on Sunday, Cabrera said of his vote deficit, “I don’t care.”
No matter your statistical preference, traditional or Sabermetric, Cabrera has been the superior player this year over Hosmer.
