Grady Sizemore is back in the major leagues after the Rays promoted him from Single-A Charlotte on Sunday morning. In related roster moves, outfielder Desmond Jennings was moved to the 60-day disabled list and pitcher Matt Andriese was optioned to Triple-A Durham.
Sizemore, 32, hit .245/.288/.296 with no home runs and six RBI in 104 plate appearances with the Phillies this season before being released in early June. The Rays signed him two weeks later.
The veteran is a shadow of his former self, as he has been besieged by injuries, but the tank isn’t completely empty just yet.
