According to Jordan Bastian of MLB.com, Indians manager Terry Francona said this evening that Yan Gomes is on pace to return from the seven-day concussion disabled list for the start of a weekend series against the Royals tomorrow.
Gomes suffered the concussion last Thursday against the Twins when was hit in the mask by a ball that deflected off the arm of Kurt Suzuki on a hit-by-pitch. He has made quick progress since, but Bastian writes that the Indians will likely run him through some tests tomorrow before making a final decision on his status.
Gomes has thrived as Cleveland’s regular catcher this season, batting .284/.324/.477 with 17 home runs and 53 RBI over 109 games.
