Red Sox second base prospect Yoan Moncada was named MVP of the Futures Game on Sunday evening, helping the World Futures to an 11-3 victory over the U.S. Futures. The 21-year-old went 2-for-5 with a monster go-ahead two-run home run in the eighth inning off of Anthony Banda.

Others grabbing the spotlight for the World Futures included Padres prospect Manuel Margot, who robbed the Cardinals’ Carson Kelly of a home run in the sixth inning. Eloy Jimenez of the Cubs made a spectacular catch on a foul ball down the right field line at Petco Park and also belted a three-run homer. Alex Reyes, in the Cardinals’ organization, hit triple digits with his fastball velocity, yielding a pair of hits and a walk with four strikeouts in 1 2/3 innings.
As for the U.S. Futures, the Astros’ Alex Bregman went 3-for-5, finishing a homer shy of the cycle. The Orioles’ Chance Sisco drilled a solo home run in the fourth inning off of Francisco Rios. Clint Frazier, an Indians prospect, showed off his bat speed with a single and a double across three at-bats.
