  • LAA Starting Pitcher #48
Reid Detmers was lit up for seven runs in 5 1/3 innings by the White Sox in a loss Monday.
Lol. Detmers gave the Angels quality starts against the Twins and Dodgers after being recalled at the beginning of the month, yet he completely fell apart against MLB’s worst team, giving up three homers to a club that had averaged 0.79 per game. We’ll probably peg Detmers as a 2025 sleeper if the Angels opt to move him this winter, but it’s pretty easy to see why his current team has been so frustrated with him.

Reid Detmers struck out eight and held the Twins to two runs in six innings to get a win Monday.
Detmers gave up a solo homer to Kyle Farmer and an RBI poke by Carlos Santana, and that was it for the left-hander. It’s another quality outing for the southpaw and it comes after allowing just two runs over six innings with 10 punchouts against the Dodgers. Fantasy managers have been fooled by Detmers before, but there’s no denying the 25-year-old has the talent to succeed; just maybe not the command. He’s absolutely worth starting next Monday against the White Sox.

Reid Detmers fanned 10 while allowing two runs over six innings Tuesday against the Dodgers.
Detmers looked good tonight, particularly with his breaking balls. Before being sent down, he averaged 86.0 mph with his slider and 75.4 mph with his curveball this season. Tonight, he was at 87.2 mph and 74.3 mph, respectively, and the added separation seemed to pay off. Detmers is still a tough mixed-league play on a bad Angels team, but a strong finish would be nice. He’ll get the Twins next.

Angels recalled LHP Reid Detmers from Triple-A Salt Lake.
Detmers is slated to take the ball on Tuesday against the Dodgers in his first outing back in the majors since June 1. The 25-year-old southpaw has posted astronomical strikeout rates everywhere he’s ever pitched, but continues to leave much to be desired from a run-prevention standpoint. He’ll be a viable fantasy option, if he makes some progress in that department.

Yahoo Sports’ Russell Dorsey reports the Angels are calling up left-hander Reid Detmers.
Detmers has continued to miss bats at truly astounding rates this season at the Triple-A level, but struggled earlier this year in 12 starts for the Angels, which led to an early-June demotion. The 25-year-old southpaw is always going to strike out a ton of batters, which gives him immense fantasy upside, but he needs to show that he can avoid hard contact at the highest level if he’s going to evolve into a potential fantasy ace. There’s still time for him to make the leap and we’re hoping the extra time in the minors has led to a few new wrinkles.

Reid Detmers allowed three runs on four hits in six innings while striking out 11 for Triple-A Salt Lake on Sunday.
Detmers now has 21 strikeouts in his last two games, which is the good news. The bad news is that he has allowed eight runs in 12 innings over those two starts. The swing-and-miss is nice to see, but Detmers will undoubtedly need to do more to incentivize the Angels to call him back up.

Reid Detmers struck out 10 but still gave up five runs in six innings Tuesday for Triple-A Salt Lake.
Although he allowed only five hard-hit balls, two turned into homers and he still gave up eight hits anyway. Detmers has a 6.00 ERA and a 30/7 K/BB ratio over 24 innings in four starts since his demotion.

Reid Detmers allowed seven runs over five innings on Friday for Triple-A Salt Lake.
Yikes. The positive takeaway here is that Detmers recorded eight strikeouts and didn’t hand out a free pass. The 24-year-old talented southpaw was jettisoned to the minors earlier this month to give him some space to work on things. Simply put, he remains a work in progress.

Angels optioned LHP Reid Detmers to Triple-A Salt Lake.
The 24-year-old southpaw was hit hard again in Saturday’s loss to the Mariners — giving up five runs over 3 2/3 innings — and that was apparently the last straw. Detmers has posted a miserable 6.14 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and a 70/27 K/BB ratio over 63 innings through 12 starts on the season. He’ll work to refine his craft at the Triple-A level before hopefully rejoining the Angels’ rotation later in the season. No word yet on what the Angels plan to do to fill that void in their rotation.

Reid Detmers allowed five runs in 3 2/3 innings and took the loss against the Mariners on Saturday.
Detmers gave up four hits, walked four and struck out three. He continues to struggle as he’s now allowed at least four runs in seven of his last eight starts. Detmers hasn’t won a game since winning his first three starts of the season. His ERA is now the worst it’s been all year at 6.14. The 24-year-old left-hander is set to face the Astros at home next week, but he’s best left on the bench until further notice.
